Advocates and lawmakers are demanding ICE stop using Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center to detain immigrants, calling the facility unsafe and inhumane.

They say families are being separated without warning, and detainees are often moved without notice or access to legal help.

The Bureau of Prisons says it’s now housing ICE detainees in eight federal facilities, including MDC Brooklyn.

Officials say it’s part of an agreement to support immigration enforcement efforts in the city.
