Decade-old abandoned home causing concern for Bedford Park neighbors

Neighbors living near the abandoned home at 3013 Grand Concourse say they have submitted nine complaints to 311 In in the past two months alone.

Bedford Park neighbors say they are nearing their breaking point, due to a decade-old abandoned house.
Neighbors living near the abandoned home at 3013 Grand Concourse say they have submitted nine complaints to 311 In in the past two months alone.
Residents say they've seen loitering, illegal dumping and parking at the vacant residence. They also cite loud noise and potential breaks-ins.
Next door neighbor Rafael Jimenez says he's lived down the street from the abandoned home for over 10 years, and has seen his fair share of people using the it as a local hang out spot at night.
"[People] litter and smoke, do drugs," Jimenez says. "They are dirty, they throw garbage, empty cans of beer. It's very bad... no one is doing something so far."
In a statement to News 12, Karla Cabrera Carrera, district manager of Bronx Community Board 7 says that she will elevate neighbor's "concerns to the Department of Buildings, Department of Sanitation, the Police Department, and any other related city agencies to amplify the quality-of-life red flags the constituent has raised."
Carrera also encourages residents to contact her office directly with their concerns.
