A space listed as an event space was something totally different inside, according to police.
The NYPD says they busted the illegal nightclub over the weekend at 360 Jefferson St. Online, the place is listed as an open studio for events, with a juice bar and more than 5,000 square feet of space. But police say it was set up with alcohol, marijuana, edibles and even a tattoo parlor.
The NYPD’s 83rd Precinct posted photos of what they found — including bags of marijuana, a table full of cannabis edibles, and tons of liquor bottles.
The bust happened Saturday night. Police teamed up with the Department of Buildings and the FDNY. They handed out three summonses and arrested two men - Saimon Honlader, 28, of Queens, and Milos Sokorac, 22, of Staten Island.
Both are now facing charges like criminal drug possession and reckless endangerment.
The city also stepped in with a partial vacate order. Building inspectors say the space was set up like a full-blown nightclub — with dancing, alcohol and tattoo services — but the building is only approved for commercial or manufacturing use. So now, the basement and first floor are shut down.
Police say the crackdown came after multiple complaints from people living nearby. The 83rd Precinct says it’s all part of their effort to protect the community’s quality of life.
The investigation is still ongoing.
